About Settles Ford GSP Kennels

Robert Ross is from Missouri and breeds German Shorthaired Pointers. I have been following, leading, caring, and cussing hunting dogs for fifty years. In that time I have learned...THEY have trained ME well! We are a small kennel dedicated to breeding individuals that exhibit physical and character traits that we believe enhance the hunting prowess of individual dogs and the German Shorthaired Pointer breed. We have concentrated on breeding within a bloodline that goes back to my sixteen year hunting companion, Long Legged Luke. His exuberance to life spilled over into to his mastery in the field and retrieve. He displayed innate knowledge of human commands and followed with all four feet in the air! His pups showed the same zest for hunt and adventure, and the same desire to please as their sire. All dogs in our kennel are within three generations of this fine dog. I do not have but one or two litters per year, as I primarily attempt to keep my friends and myself in good hunting stock. Over the long life of Luke, he sired many litters. Presently, we have no stud dog at SFK. The last 7 litters have been from my line crossed with very select and proven hunters and AKC title holders from top GSP breeders in the United States.
